1. Methodology of teaching and learning In all living ways there is no best way of teaching. However, there are multiple methods that are useful in improving teaching and learning. I choose student-centered learning approach as it allows more focus on the learner than the use of teacher-centered approach. Teacher-centered approach leaves out a lot of skills that benefit a learner. Teacher-centered approach can also be included for some specific topics and learning objectives. It should not be the only way a teacher uses to transfer knowledge. Student-Centered / Constructivist Approach This teaching approach allows learners to play a greater role in learning. Student-Centered approach turns the focus on students rather than the teacher only. It also helps see where a learner lacks or falls behind. It also keeps learners as responsible individuals. And it may build self-confidence and students to become lifelong learners. The student-centered approach can be difficult for teachers to master or perfect. However, the results and outcomes can be very positive when the approach is effectively employed. Project-Based Learning This allows learners to become critical thinkers, acquire research skills, be able to analyze, evaluate, collaborate, and make decisions. I can give learners questions based on a novel or a short story and ask them to answer the given question using the novel and the knowledge you acquired during the lesson. Inquiry-Based Learning This teaching approach allows learners to be actively engaged in learning. Learners will be able to ask questions and await answers. This also helps me as a teacher to trace my learners' learning progress. As a teacher, I will guide students to develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Cooperative Learning cooperative learning involves a lot of group work and cooperation. Learners will be able to share knowledge and answers, while learning to work with others. They will be divided into groups to solve questions based on the lesson being taught. This also promotes understanding. Social interaction develops learning. 2. Languages in which I am able to teach in: Explanation can be provided in IsiZulu, Xhosa, and Sepedi; but the content will only be taught in English because teaching of English requires only understanding of English and not any other language. 3.Typical lesson: Learners will understand literature, both contemporary and medieval language. They will be able to analyze, interpret, discuss, and understand literary texts. They will develop writing, listening, and reading skills. 4. Students aimed at: My lessons are available for learners from grade 1 to 12. English is like mathematics, it can be taught anywhere.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
Courage is a very dedicated person and a hard worker. I believe that he will make a great tutor because all the effort that he puts into his work, produces good results. Courage and I do the same course and both stay at Groenkloof campus and I spend most of the time with him. Therefore, I have witnessed all of this.
