About Lynn
CURRENTLY BOOKING 4x/week SUMMER INTENSIVES for six weeks at a promotional $60/hr rate to provide immersive, 1:1 support for your child.
I am an educational therapist specializing in reading disorders, including dyslexia. I bring 25 years of experience supporting children and adolescents who continue to struggle despite high-quality instruction, and I hold a Master’s degree in Special Education, with seven years in the classroom and over 18 years as an educational therapist.
I have a problem-solving mentality by nature and truly enjoy the challenge of finding what works instructionally for each student. At the same time, because many students arrive on day one feeling defeated, I believe it’s critical to help them develop a growth mindset and infuse a sense of positivity into our lessons so real growth can take place.
After raising two sons who learn differently and spending five years homeschooling, I understand the struggle for parents. My personal experience paired with my professional roles allow me to help my students navigate challenges that other interventions may have missed as well as provide parents with the clear, expert guidance they may need.

By the time my reading students begin sessions with me, they are often bored and frustrated with reading. They have tried one or more Science of Reading (research-based) programs without success. When that happens, it’s not the child—it’s the approach.
These students typically need three things:
1. Truly individualized instruction - They need a practitioner who can reassess what is and isn’t working and adjust instruction accordingly–by modifying a program, switching programs, or incorporating other research-backed methods, rather than pushing a student through one program that doesn’t fit. I am trained in four different reading approaches and numerous Science of Reading-based strategies, allowing our lessons to be both structured and flexible.
2. Confidence-building and positivity - My students need a specialist who prioritizes establishing rapport from the first session to build trust, helps them to recognize their strengths, and teaches a growth mindset. This way, we begin from a positive place despite their past frustrations with reading.
3. Motivation through engagement - Finally, these students need the engaging, interactive learning tools I provide to boost motivation and help rebuild their interest in learning.
My lessons are a positive, safe space for learning where my students finally get the targeted, expert instruction they need to succeed!

I met Lynn when my daughter was in the same kindergarten class as Lynn's son. She shared what her speciality was and I asked her about my son not able to read at grade level in 1st grade. She thought he was still young and would catch up. She invited me to her house and spent several hours with me and gave me pointers to help him. I applied what I learned and he started to make a little improvement but not enough. The following 4 years, my son had several reading specialist, in-home private tutors, and participated in special reading programs, etc. to help him but nothing seemed to work. When my son was in 5th grade, he was still behind his peers (reading at 2nd grad level). One day, I ran into Lynn. I asked her if she can help becuase I didn't know where/who else I can turn to. I warned her about my son's unwillingness to work with others and his outbursts. She agreed to take him as a student. I was so grateful. Getting my son to her was a challange but once he was there, Lynn was able to manage his emotions. My son cooperated and did what was needed. This went on for 2 years. By the time he was in 7th grade, he was able to read at 6th grade level. My son is a Boy Scout. At the end of 7th grade, he was assigned to read during Court of Honors. He didn't get the script ahead of time to practice for the ceremony. When the time came for him to read, tears were streaming down my face as he had no problem and read what was assigned. It might have been no big deal to other parents, but at that moment, I knew my son have caught up with his reading levle and will be ok going forward. I am forever grateful for what Lynn has done for him. My son has obtained his Eagle Scout rank and is now a Freshman in college. He would not have been where he is now if it weren't for Lynn's guidance. I will recommend Lynn to anyone who are seeking a compassinate teacher who can make a difference in thier child's life. Thank you Lynn.
