About Rick

I am a passionate and dedicated tutor who believes that learning should be both effective and enjoyable. Over the past 10 years, I have supported students in building confidence, mastering subjects, and achieving outstanding results. My experience as an education consultant since 2017 and acted as Head of Subject in school has given me a deep understanding of how to unlock each learner’s potential and guide them towards success. I hold a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from UCL and specialise in French, Spanish, Mandarin, English, and Maths up to IGCSE level, as well as A level languages. My lessons are highly personalised, with a focus on making complex ideas simple and accessible. I aim not only to prepare students for exams but also to develop their curiosity and independence as learners. Students often describe my sessions as engaging, structured, and confidence-boosting. I combine professional expertise with a supportive, approachable teaching style that helps students feel at ease while pushing them to achieve their best. Whether preparing for important exams, catching up on schoolwork, or stretching towards ambitious goals, I provide clear guidance and inspiration every step of the way.

About the lesson

With over 10 years of experience in private tutoring and working as an education consultant since 2017, I bring both subject expertise and a strategic understanding of how to help students achieve their academic goals. Alongside my consultancy work, I have also served as a Head of Department in school, which has given me deep insight into curriculum planning, exam requirements, and the skills students need to succeed at the highest levels. My lessons are designed to be engaging, structured, and tailored to the individual learner. I combine clear explanations, interactive exercises, and exam-style practice to help students master content and build long-term confidence. A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although I also provide 90-minute sessions for intensive exam preparation. Each session ends with a focused review and actionable next steps. I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages from UCL, and I teach French, Spanish, and Mandarin across KS3, GCSE, and A level. I also offer Maths and English up to IGCSE level, supporting students with both core knowledge and exam technique. My lessons are suitable for students from KS3 through to A level, as well as international students preparing to transition into the UK education system. Whether the goal is exam success, academic confidence, or preparation for study in the UK, I provide a clear plan and professional support.
