About Alice

I tutor a range of subject from year 1 phonics and maths up to GCSE’s

With an A* myself in maths and years of experience applying this knowledge within my science degree (which I received a first in), I now enjoy teaching my learning methods and techniques to allow students to find the way of learning that suits them best-which may be unavailable in a normal maths classroom.

DBS Private Tutor with lots of experience, including working with SEN and Hearing impaired students.

Currently working as a learning support assistant in a secondary school with multiple private students.

About the lesson

My sessions:

Sessions can include past paper walkthroughs, confidence building and stress reducing tips for in the exam. Revision technique sessions and memory training exercises.

Homework can be set for extra work, consolidating what we have learnt or prepping for the next session, this is optional though marking will be provided and questions can be worked through in lesson.

Revision notes, maths word glossary and tasks will be sent over to you in advance.

These sessions will are tailored to YOUR child's needs

My main aims are to make sure my students are able to:

understand what the question is asking for, grasping the difference between words such as describe, analyse, express, define and evaluate.

know how to reduce the chance of missed marks, clearly showing methods, units and writing the answer in the style that is asked are simple ways to gain up to 2-3 marks in maths papers.

find out what type of learner they are and which methods allow them to best retain the knowledge learnt.

feel confident in using knowledge across other subjects.

to understand not only the methods used but how these make sense and why we use them. Understanding allows us to retain information much longer than simple repetition of these processes does.

feel confident asking me to re-explain topics and go back over them, though, we will always revisit topics before the exam.
