About Christine

Good morning! My name is Miss Christine Gouws and I will be your art teacher. I studied Fine Art at the University of Cape Town where I obtained a bachelor's Degree with Honours in Fine Art. I also graduated with distinction. At University we had six practical art subjects. Drawing, Painting, New Media, Print Making, Sculpture, and Photography. In my class we will aim to cover as many of those subjects as possible. However, we will focus mostly on Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Print Making. New Media is basically Graphic Design, so we would need computers for this subject. However, we can definitely look at Design too. I will also be teaching History of Art, Theory of Art and Conceptual Art

About the lesson

My art classes will be focused mostly on the practical side of art creation. However, I will also teach the history of art, the theory of art, and contemporary art. What makes me unique as a teacher is that I have fourteen years experience working as an artist. I am kind, caring, and very patient. During practical lessons, I will be walking around the class and helping students with their work. English is my home language and since it is the international language, I teach in English. I can teach art the children from the age of three up to people the age of eighty. Obviously the classes will differ depending on the age group that I am teaching.
