About Matthew
I am a writer and musician from North Miami, Florida. I graduated from UWF with a B.A. in Creative Writing with a minor in Philosophy. My education provided me ample experience and learning techniques that enabled me to curate an unique voice that is present in all my works, ranging from creative/fiction to prose/essay writing. Additionally, my exposure to both Lit. criticism and Philosophy gifted me the ability to dissect and analyze written works. As a writer, I utilize both the creative and analytic skills I acquired and meld them into my editing process.
After my graduation, I participated in the Masa Israel Teaching Fellows program (MITF), where I resided in Haifa for a year and assisted with teaching English to Elementary school students, in small groups, ranging from grades 3-6. Upon my return to the States, I found a job working as an assistant to the 4th grade Laura Cushman Academy (LCA) for neuro-divergent children, which is where I currently work.

My teaching method is Socratic, conversational, and multi-disciplinary. I see myself as an equal with the student. We both have something to learn from each other, regardless of the differences in levels of experience. My primary role is to pose obstacles in the form of questions to the student. The purpose of these questions is to allow the student the possibility to solve the answer for themselves. Equally as important, thought, is the ability to freely express thoughts and feelings in an open, sincere but disciplined conversation. The conversation allows ideas to bounce around, stick, and/or refine themselves. Ideally, the formulated ideas and methods will touch on multiple related topics or fields that a written work pertains to.
