About Sophia
I’m a patient, and passionate Visual Arts educator with 17 years of teaching experience in both international and Australian schools. My lessons are fun, flexible, and personalized to each student’s goals, interests, and learning style.
I teach drawing, painting, mixed media, sculpture, resin art, and more, while blending practical skills with art history to help students understand both the how and the why behind art. I also offer guided urban sketching sessions, gallery visits, and creative experiences beyond the classroom.
Whether you’re a beginner, hobbyist, or aspiring artist, I’ll help you build confidence, develop your creativity, and enjoy the artistic journey at your own pace.

Materials will be mostly provided- dependent on the medium. My lessons are individually tailored to each student’s interests, goals, learning style, and current skill level, creating a personalized pathway that builds both confidence and artistic ability.
My teaching extends beyond simply demonstrating techniques. I integrate art history, artist studies, and visual analysis so students understand not only how to create art, but why artists made particular creative decisions. This deeper understanding helps students develop originality, critical thinking, and a personal artistic voice.
I offer a wide range of learning experiences, including:
* Drawing fundamentals
* Acrylic and watercolor painting
* Mixed media
* Sculpture and three-dimensional art
* Resin art
* Composition and design principles
* Creative concept development
* Art appreciation and art history
* Guided gallery visits and artwork discussions (by arrangement)
* Urban and street sketching sessions, where I accompany students to sketch in parks, cafés, laneways, museums, gardens, or other inspiring locations. These sessions help students strengthen observation skills, draw from life with confidence, and learn how artists capture the world around them.
