About Gareth
I have been teaching since 2017, after after graduating from The Voice College, mentored by Dr Ria Keen, specialising in Alexander Technique and adolescent voices. Additionally, I have furthered my knowledge of vocal health with a qualification in Vocal Massage, studying under Stephen King and Robert Price.

I initially trained as a singer, so I have been on both sides of a vocal lesson. My teaching method is very adaptable to individual requirements - many of my students have been purely there to hone their technique either in general, or in a specific style, or specifically to prepare for an audition or performance they might have coming up. I always encourage students to record their sessions so they can refer back to any particular points of progress, or any issues that may have occurred; and also to serve as a good "point zero" to monitor their vocal progression. I also encourage students to not hesitate to reach out in between sessions if they have any particular worries or general queries about their progress. I have a wide knowledge of repertoire, mainly musical theatre, and will always suggest options to suit a voice, but I always encourage students to bring their own if they have any in which they particularly interested. My experience with Alexander Technique helps bring the whole body into the process of singing as much as possible, to create the most grounded, secure sound possible. I encourage students to leave any worries at the door and always do my best to create a safe space for vocal experimentation without any judgement.
