About Niva

I am a violin tutor with over 8 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Violin Emphasis. My background spans solo, chamber, and orchestral performance, giving me a broad perspective on musicianship. I work closely with students to develop technical precision, musical expression, and confidence on stage. Building stage presence is a key focus in my lessons. I guide students through audition preparation, helping them select repertoire, polish interpretation, and manage performance nerves. My approach emphasizes understanding the music deeply, so every note communicates intention and emotion. I specialize in advanced repertoire, ensuring students tackle challenging works with clarity and artistry. I have worked with high school performers, conservatory students, and competition entrants, tailoring lessons to each student’s goals and abilities. Lessons combine structured practice, technical development, and expressive exploration. I encourage consistent progress while fostering a love for music. Every session is designed to inspire confidence and creativity. My goal is to help students reach the next level of musical excellence. Whether preparing for recitals, competitions, or auditions, I provide guidance, support, and encouragement at every step. Together, we make music that is both technically strong and deeply expressive.

My violin teaching approach focuses on clear goal-setting and structured practice to help students progress confidently. Each lesson begins with daily warm-ups to build technique, flexibility, and focus. I incorporate technical etudes to strengthen finger agility, bow control, and intonation. Expressive phrasing and musicality are emphasized, so students learn to bring emotion and character to every piece. I guide students through performance preparation, including recitals, auditions, and ensemble playing, teaching stage presence, confidence, and audience engagement. Practice plans are tailored to each learner’s strengths, offering creative challenges that inspire growth. I encourage exploration of different musical styles while ensuring foundational skills remain strong. Feedback is constructive and motivating, helping students stay engaged and confident. Lessons balance discipline with enjoyment, giving students clear steps toward mastery while nurturing expressive outlets. I provide strategies for independent practice, emphasizing consistency and purpose. Students learn to set achievable milestones, track progress, and celebrate achievements. The approach suits learners who thrive with structure, encouragement, or creative freedom. Every session is designed to make playing the violin rewarding, expressive, and fun.
