About Erica
Now, I know the lesson plan can sound really scary and formal but don't let it drive you away. I've been an Adjunct Instructor at Indiana University for the past year and have had rave reviews from students about my teaching style. The key? I want success for my students as much as they do (if not more). This drives me to make sure I find a style that works for them, even if it is not my own. I love a good challenge and have the patience and resilience to help all of my students achieve success. Being a young adult myself and a slight perfectionist, I know the pressure one can be under and how that can make learning less fun. That is why I strive to change things up, make the lessons interesting, and make a connection beyond the work because in the end, we're in this together.

My teaching style is personalized to the individual. In our first session, we will assess where the student currently stands, their goals, and their needs. I work with all age levels. For younger and/or introductory tutoring to the English language, the lesson plans will target spelling, grammar, sentence structure, and how to write your first essay. For those more experienced, think of me like an editor. I am here to help develop pre-existing skills and take your writing to the next level. This intermediate level is great for those who can already write but struggle with flow, professionalism, and conciseness. I will have students send me a piece they need help developing before the lesson. From there, I will write notes and ask questions for clarity. In our first session, we will work through the piece together and brainstorm solutions. After noting what is more challenging for the student, I will devise lesson plans to target those areas. This could include activities for reorganizing written pieces, rewriting sentences to target specific tones, and writing for different audiences.
