About Cali
I am currently a creative writing student at Oregon State University. During my freshman year of college, I started my school's only Zine Club, in which a team of students and myself wrote for, published, and distributed our own magazine. In high school, I was awarded for excellence in creative writing on behalf of my senior class. Furthermore, I was a part of my high school's Future Educator's Program, in which students were given university-level EDU 101-102 classes. Because of this program, I was given the opportunity to complete an internship with my previous third grade teacher for two years. The knowledge and advice I gained during this time has become indispensable as I've continued teaching. For the past five years, I've been a camp counselor, teaching students everything from science to tennis. I hope to continue this journey with you and your student!

Middle and high school students will be met with passion and patience when it comes to their learning. Together, we will work through essay writing with written brainstorms, individualized workshops, and editing practice. My philosophy centers around brevity, clarity, and rhythm. Under my tutelage, students will be able to write prose that flows well and makes sense. When it comes to reading comprehension, students can often feel defeated. It is difficult to read between the lines of dense texts. Together, we can go through confusing passages, words, and motifs/themes. I believe it is important for students to work through areas of confusion verbally, and note taking is expected. Every student is different. I will strive to meet your student where they are at, while also building an individualized curriculum that ensures your child will excel.
