About Nina
I genuinely enjoy helping others develop their confidence in English. I believe English is about much more than essays and assessments, it develops critical thinking, communication and the ability to engage thoughtfully with different ideas. Having helped classmates with their English, I’ve found it incredibly rewarding to see their confidence and results improve. I want to tutor because I enjoy making challenging concepts feel more achievable and helping students realize that they are capable of producing strong work.

My approach to tutoring is centred around identifying the specific areas where each student can improve, rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. As a Year 11 student ranked 1st in both English Advanced and English Extension 1, I have developed a strong understanding of what makes an effective critical essay and, importantly, how to communicate those skills to other students.
In lessons, I aim to identify the underlying weaknesses in a student’s writing, whether this is developing a sophisticated thesis, analysing evidence, linking techniques to meaning, maintaining a clear argument, or structuring paragraphs effectively. I then provide direct, personalised feedback that shows students exactly what they can change and why. I also use strong sample responses and model paragraphs to demonstrate what these improvements look like in practice, allowing students to apply the techniques to their own writing.
Most importantly, I want students to become independent and confident writers. Rather than simply correcting their work, I explain the reasoning behind each piece of feedback so they can recognise and address similar weaknesses in future essays. My goal is for every lesson to leave students with practical strategies they can immediately apply to their writing and their next assessment.
