About Shivom
Hello! I’m Shivom Gupta, an astrophysicist by training and an educator by passion. I hold a Master’s degree in Astrophysics from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, and I currently work as a Program Instructor for the LGP program at Ashoka University, where I teach the "Alien Earth & Life" course to exceptionally bright 11th & 12th-grade students. Over the past decade, I have built a strong foundation in Mathematics, Physics, and Astrophysics through both advanced academic work and extensive outreach. From working on real space mission data and modeling exoplanet transit signatures to simplifying difficult physics concepts for school and college students across India, I have taught learners at all levels. My teaching approach is concept-driven, interactive, and tailored to the student. I make sure that my students don’t just memorize formulas—they understand where they come from, why they matter, and how they apply to the world (and universe!) around us. What you can expect from my classes: 1. Clear, step-by-step explanations of concepts 2. Emphasis on logic, problem-solving, and intuition 3. Visuals, real-world analogies, and connections to space science 4. Friendly, patient, and encouraging guidance, whether you are catching up or aiming ahead 5. I have mentored students in physics olympiads, helped school learners conquer their math fears, and guided curious minds toward careers in science. With me, you will find not just a tutor, but a mentor who genuinely cares about your learning journey. Let’s explore, learn, and grow together, whether it's high school or any school-level math, fundamental physics, or the mysteries of the cosmos.

My Teaching Philosophy & Approach: My teaching is rooted in curiosity-driven learning. I don't just aim to teach facts but to spark wonder, ask deep questions, and connect scientific concepts to the real (and cosmic) world. Having worked extensively in astronomy education and outreach across India with institutions like IUCAA, Space Technology Education Pvt. Ltd., JVP Pune and Ashoka University, I have taught and mentored thousands of students and teachers, from high school learners to undergrad classrooms. These experiences have shaped my belief that good science teaching is storytelling with the Universe. Here’s how I share knowledge: I simplify, without diluting: Whether it's the transit method of exoplanet detection or atmospheric greenhouse modeling, I break down complexity using analogies, visuals, and interactive models. I teach how to think, not just what to know: Through hands-on experiments, DIY science/astronomy projects, and problem-solving techniques, I help students develop a scientific mindset and critical thinking skills. I connect theory to exploration: I often draw from my own research experiences, like studying hot Jupiters or automating astrophysical data pipelines, to make abstract physics and math concepts come alive. I promote inclusive, learner-centered teaching: Whether guiding high school students in summer school at IUCAA or teaching in prestigious programs like the Lodha Genius Program at Ashoka University or even home tutoring in Geneva, I strive to build confidence and curiosity in every student, regardless of their background. My classroom is not confined to textbooks: Be it a telescope session, a classroom discussion, or a digital simulation, I make learning an experience. If you are someone who has ever looked up at the night sky and asked, "Why?", then I would love to be your guide through the cosmos of knowledge.

Patient and Supportive: He never gets annoyed if we ask too many questions. He listens carefully and helps us until we are confident with the topic.
Makes Learning Fun and Interesting: He connects Math and Physics to real-life things, which makes the class more exciting and less stressful.
Very Approachable: I never felt scared or hesitant to talk to him about any doubts. He’s always kind and respectful to students.
Cares About Our Growth: He genuinely wants us to do well, not just in exams, but also in how we think and learn.View more recommendations
