About Namrata Yadav
I spent a decade in law, policy, and consulting before I turned to writing full-time—and the biggest shift wasn't learning to write, it was learning to trust what I actually wanted to say. I want to teach because I remember what it's like to sit on a story and not know how to let it out honestly. I'm not interested in teaching formulas. I want to help people find their own voice and get out of their own way, the same way I had to.

I'm a professional storyteller and writer based in Mumbai — I write and perform original solo work (my debut show sold out its Mumbai run), publish long-form essays on Substack, and write narrative content for brands. Before this, I trained as a lawyer and policy researcher (Master's, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, NUS; B.A. LL.B., RMLNLU), which means I bring real structural rigour to storytelling, not just inspiration.
I teach creative writing the way I actually write: starting from real emotion, not formulas. Whether you're writing your first short story, working on personal essays, or want to develop a stronger narrative voice, I'll help you find what's true in your own writing and shape it into something that lands.
What we'll work on:
Finding your voice and writing with restraint rather than over-explaining
Structuring personal essays, short fiction, or poetry
Turning real experience into story — "show, don't tell" as a practice, not just advice
Feedback that's honest and specific, not generic encouragement
Who this is for: Adult beginners and intermediate writers who want to write more honestly and with more craft — whether for a personal project, a portfolio, or just to get unstuck.
