About Katy

I am a highly experienced social worker who qualified in 2012 with a First Class Honours degree in Social Work. I have completed my ASYE programme and Practice Educator Award, and I currently hold a senior role within a specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) working with parents, babies, and young children within an attachment and developmental trauma service. My role includes specialist assessments, court report writing, and delivering therapeutic interventions to support families and break cycles of intergenerational trauma and neglect. I have extensive experience across child protection, court work, children looked after services, older adults services, and CAMHS. Alongside my clinical work, I teach and train professionals on mental health and trauma-informed practice. I am trained in approaches including DBT-informed skills, MBT, NET, VIG and CBT-informed practice. I offer bespoke tutoring, proofreading, and academic coaching, with a supportive approach that helps students build confidence and succeed in their studies.

About the lesson

I offer bespoke tutoring sessions to meet individuals' needs. Offering proofreading essays, assignments and dissertations for social work students or health and social care students. I am very lucky that I have had a lot of wonderful students contact me through this website and have supported them in a number of ways since April 2020. Some have weekly support and some see me on an ad hoc basis. I have supported social work students within my workplace as their practice educator recently meaning I am up to date with university expectations, reflective practice and written work. My teaching method is a collaborative one which enables the student to reflect upon and grow as a social work practitioner. I am nurturing and honest. I break down pieces of work/information into manageable chunks, offer guidance, share knowledge, ask questions to help develop reflective skills, linking theory to practice and a client-centred way of practice. I can offer bespoke tutoring in the following areas: - specific subject areas for courses or degrees that a student may be struggling with. -proofreading assignments, essays or dissertations. -breaking down assignment or exam criteria. Supporting with what to cover, learning objectives and onward signposting to reading resources. -preparing for practice placement -legislation and policy lessons - Developing reflective practice and critical analysis skills
