About Astrid

I am a current law student at Durham University. I achieved A*A*A*A in my a-levels (law, psychology, EPQ and sociology). I have in the past given lessons to 2 a-level law students who are going to take their exams this year. Outside of academics, I have volunteered for human rights charity 'Reprieve' where I conducted research for them into human right abuses and also, potential miscarriages of justice within the USA criminal system. I'm also involved in local politics.
At University, I am part of the mooting society, law society, justice society, amnesty international, bar society etc.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to look first at the student's strengths and weaknesses within the subject. We will also look at what the student is also doing within their class. For example, what they are currently doing in class and if they have mock exams coming up etc. This will give us a good overview of what to start/concentrate on. At the start of each lesson, we will look at previous work that the student has done for either their school teacher or I. We will then discuss where they can improve and I will go through the answer with them. Afterwards, we will set out the objectives for the session. During the session, we will look at the material, case studies and also evaluation. At the end of the session, I will send them revision resources that I have. This will include notes, flashcards, flowcharts and answer schemes. However, I will encourage the student to make their own resources as it really helps to be able to memorise content. At the end of the session, I will set homework for the next session. This could be doing an exam question, reading and closer to exams, a past examination paper. I will then mark these and will then discuss the markings with them in my next session.

If there is a cancellation, I will need to know 2 days prior to the session otherwise you will still be charged £5 per hour of the session/s. This is because I will be, outside the session, marking work and getting revision resources sorted out for the student.
