Language learning is something that I take seriously. I actively maintain my near-native fluency in French, Spanish and Portuguese, as well as my conversational knowledge of Japanese.
My other interests are piano and chess. I have 15 years of experience playing tango pieces, including Nazareth's Odeon (of which one of the best interpretations is here). In chess, my favourite opening is the Caro-Kann Defence.

About the lesson

My tutoring style consists of first understanding the pupil’s level, e.g. by using past papers. From there, I create a lesson plan targeting the specific areas that the pupil found challenging. I believe a tutor should be empathetic, committed and knowledgeable.

Perfect! Martin is an excellent teacher who really cares about your performance. He spends time understanding things himself and then explaining them to you in an extremely detailed manner. He also pretty much makes sure you understand them which is extremely useful. i cant recommend him enough if someone is interested in him.

Martin stepped in to continue my son's A-level preparation in the run-up to his final exams after his original tutor moved from the local area. I'm pleased to report that, through Martin's masterful tutoring, my son recovered from a predicted D to achieve a confident B. Martin quickly identified areas of weakness and was able to create a programme of lessons that complemented the school's work. My son felt totally at ease with Martin and really appreciated his patience and calm explanations of complex maths ideas. To anyone looking for a decent maths tutor, I would recommend Martin without hesitation. I also then asked him to tutor my daughter through her GCSE year. She found exactly the same and got the grade we were hoping for.
