About Tyreke

Hey! I’m Tyreke, and I’m all about helping students level up, build confidence, and actually enjoy learning.

My background is in athletics, education, and leadership, so I bring a different kind of energy to tutoring. I have a Master’s in Sports Leadership and I’m currently pursuing my Doctorate in Organizational Leadership, but more importantly, I’ve spent years working directly with students—teaching, coaching, mentoring, and helping them grow both academically and personally.

I don’t believe in boring, one-size-fits-all tutoring. Everyone learns differently, so I tailor every session to fit you. Whether we’re working on reading, writing, organization, or personal development, I break things down in a way that makes sense, keep sessions engaging, and help you build real confidence along the way.

What really sets me apart is my coaching mindset. I treat tutoring like training—you’re not just showing up to get through homework, you’re building skills, habits, and confidence that carry over into school and life. I focus on:

Keeping you engaged and motivated
Making concepts simple and easy to understand
Building strong habits and accountability
Helping you see real progress

I’ve worked with students from elementary school all the way through college, and I know how to connect, push, and support at the same time.

If you’re looking for someone who’s reliable, brings great energy, and is genuinely invested in helping you improve—not just academically, but overall—I’ve got you.

Let’s get to work

My approach as a tutor is centered around meeting each student where they are and helping them build both skill and confidence over time. I believe that effective learning happens when students feel supported, understood, and actively engaged in the process. Because of my background in coaching and youth development, I approach tutoring the same way I approach teaching athletics; by breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps, reinforcing fundamentals, and building toward mastery through consistency and encouragement.

Teaching Method & Techniques:
I use a student-centered approach that focuses on clarity, structure, and adaptability. I start by assessing a student’s current level, strengths, and areas for growth, then tailor my instruction to fit their learning style. I emphasize:

Breaking concepts into simple, digestible steps
Active learning (practice, discussion, and application)
Real-world examples to make material more relatable
Positive reinforcement to build confidence and motivation
Consistent feedback to track improvement

My goal is not just to help students complete assignments, but to ensure they truly understand the material and can apply it independently.

Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical session is structured but flexible:

Check-in & Review (5–10 minutes): Go over previous material and address any questions
Skill/Concept Focus (15–25 minutes): Introduce or review key concepts with clear explanations and examples
Guided Practice (15–20 minutes): Work through problems or exercises together
Independent Practice (10–15 minutes): Allow the student to apply what they’ve learned with support as needed
Wrap-Up & Goal Setting (5 minutes): Summarize key takeaways and set goals for the next session

What Sets Me Apart:
What makes me unique as a tutor is my combination of academic knowledge and real-world experience in teaching, coaching, and mentoring. I don’t just focus on content—I focus on the whole student. I help students develop:

Confidence in their abilities
Strong study habits and organization skills
Accountability and discipline
A growth mindset

My experience working with youth, student-athletes, and college students allows me to connect with a wide range of learners and keep them engaged, especially those who may struggle with motivation or traditional learning environments.

Who My Lessons Are For:
I work with a wide range of students, including:

Elementary and middle school students (reading, writing, foundational skills, study habits)
High school students (writing, organization, admissions guidance, personal development)
College students (sports management, sports leadership, resume building, professional development)

I am especially effective with students who benefit from structure, mentorship, and encouragement alongside academic support. My goal is to help every student not only improve academically, but also grow in confidence and independence.
