About Desiree
With over 15 years of dedicated experience across education, coaching, and mentorship, I am passionate about helping students of all abilities unlock their full potential, build genuine confidence, and develop lasting independence.
Holding an Associate Degree in Education alongside specialized certifications in life skills and mindfulness coaching, my professional journey spans classroom instruction, one-on-one executive function coaching, and group mentorship. I have spent years working closely with diverse learners, including neurodivergent students, those navigating sensory sensitivities, and individuals seeking structured study routines—to translate complex academic and life concepts into manageable, intuitive steps.
My approach is grounded in patience, active listening, and mutual respect. I believe that true learning happens when students feel secure, understood, and empowered to learn at their own pace. Whether we are building foundational grammar and writing mechanics, establishing personal organization systems, or practicing practical self-regulation tools, I provide a clear, supportive, and low-demand environment where every student can thrive.
When you work with me, you are not just getting a tutor—you gain a dedicated partner committed to meeting learners right where they are and equipping them with the practical tools they need to achieve their personal and academic goals.

My teaching method is rooted in a calm, low-demand, and student-centered framework. Drawing from over 15 years of instructional experience, I break complex concepts, whether in daily life skills, executive functioning, or writing mechanics, into digestible, manageable steps.
Rather than relying on stressful memorization or rigid one-size-fits-all worksheets, I adapt every session to how each learner’s brain processes information best. We utilize visual organizers, structured routines, interactive practice, and real-world applications so that skills translate directly into everyday independence and confidence.
A Typical Lesson Plan
While every lesson is customized to the learner's specific goals, a standard 45-to-60-minute session follows a predictable, comforting structure:
Soft Arrival & Goal Alignment (5 Mins): A gentle, low-pressure check-in to set the focus for the day and outline what we will accomplish together.
Direct Concept Mini-Lesson (10–15 Mins): Introducing a new strategy, rule, or life skill using visual aids, clear examples, and plain language.
Interactive & Collaborative Practice (20–25 Mins): Working through real examples together, whether building a personalized weekly schedule, organizing a writing piece, or practicing sensory self-regulation techniques.
Reflection & Individual Action Plan (10 Mins): Reviewing key takeaways, adding concrete tools to the student’s personal toolkit, and defining low-stress next steps for the week.
What Sets Me Apart
What makes my coaching unique is the seamless blend of 15+ years of practical educational experience with a holistic, mindfulness-based foundation. Having worked extensively in classroom, life skills, and mentorship environments, I focus on the whole student—balancing cognitive skills with emotional regulation and self-advocacy.
I cultivate a non-judgmental space where mistakes are viewed as natural learning steps. My goal isn't just academic or task completion; it is helping students discover their own voice, build sustainable routines, and gain genuine, long-term confidence.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons and coaching sessions are designed for learners of all abilities, learning styles, and backgrounds, including:
Elementary, Middle, and High School Students looking for guidance in grammar, writing mechanics, study habits, or structured routines.
Young Adults & Transitions: Individuals working on independence, goal setting, time management, and everyday life skills.
Neurodivergent & Diverse Learners: Students (including those with ADHD, executive dysfunction, or sensory sensitivities) who thrive in a low-demand, supportive, and flexible environment.
Anyone Seeking Mindful Focus: Learners looking to build self-regulation, calm, and practical focus strategies into their daily school or home life.

Dez is an incredible mentor! Her background in education and life skills shines through in every session. She helped me break down overwhelming tasks into manageable daily routines with a calm, supportive, and completely pressure-free approach. An invaluable resource for anyone looking to build executive functioning skills and inner balance at the same time. Highly recommend!
Working with Dez has made such a huge difference for us! From day one, Dez created a super welcoming, low-pressure space where my child actually looked forward to logging on. Dez has this incredible way of keeping things calm and flexible while still teaching really practical life skills and focus tools that actually stick.
My child used to get frustrated and shut down when trying to stay organized, but Dez broke everything down into simple, manageable pieces that made sense to them. The boost in confidence and day-to-day independence we've seen is amazing. If you're looking for someone who is genuinely patient, warm, and gets how different brains work, Dez is really knowledgeable in her profession!
- Former ParentDez,
How can I possibly thank you for how much you have helped me with your mindfulness training? I had no idea that something so simple can be so effective. Merely breathing in a controlled manner, envisioning things I want for myself, constantly reinforcing self-confidence with positive affirmations, are all tools you have given me to function in a more productive, positive way.
I had been dealing with depression for a very very long time. I thought there was nothing that could pull me out of that hole, but seeing your warm, caring face, hearing your soothing voice, and most of all you’re amazing strength and positive attitude is what has me looking forward to the class every week. I really couldn’t figure out how to get a handle on my emotions, and in the very first class I noticed an improvement in my whole demeanor. I finally had hope!
Recently some things have happened that have gotten me in a funk, but I took your mindfulness training and turned that frown upside down. I’m not kidding, I get frustrated and overwhelmed, then I open up the emails with your slides and go over my notes. That is how I have been able to overcome some very dark thoughts.
You can count on me to be a return client. Even if I feel confident enough to overcome every situation with a smile, I need your reinforcement and your insight. You make great points and your exercises are wonderful! I don’t know where I would be if I hadn’t signed up with you, but I know where I’ll be next Wednesday at 11 AM. I just wanted to thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for helping me relearn how to control my emotions. Please don’t ever stop being so wonderful!
Your client, (and friend),
DawnroseI have had the pleasure of managing and working alongside Dez, and I cannot recommend her highly enough as an educator, mentor, and coach. Dez brings over 15 years of deep experience across life skills coaching, executive functioning support, and student-centered instruction.

In our virtual classes, Dez consistently breaks down complex daily routines, study skills, and learning goals into clear, manageable steps. Their teaching approach seamlessly integrates mindfulness, visual grounding, and low-stress structure to help students build true independence and self-advocacy.
Dez is compassionate, highly dependable, and deeply committed to the growth of every student they work with. Any family or student looking for a patient, skilled, and transformative mentor would be fortunate to work with Dez!"
