About Debra

Are you concerned about sending your children to school during this Covid outbreak? Did your children have difficulty adjusting to remote learning in the spring? I can help! Coming into your home to provide education assistance or remedial instruction for your children is one way I can help. Or, providing guidance, support, organization or assignment completion results is the second way to assist your family. I would prefer to do this in your home weekdays during school hours. Another option would be to check in with your children remotely.

Originally I started teaching my brother who was eleven years younger than me.

I was a camp couselor at an overnight summer Easter Seals Camp for physically disabled people and children.

I was the craft counselor for a summer day camp for a YMCA.

During my senior year of high school, I assisted the kindergarten teacher weekly.

The rest involved class fieldwork while studying in college.

B.S. in Special Education

Elementary Learning Support Teacher for 35 years: Co-teaching in regular education classrooms for all subjects, teaching remedial reading and math individually and in groups

Masters Degree in Instructional Media: how to incorporate online tools and apps in education of all subjects

Paraprofessional for 2.5 years: kindergarten to high school ages all subjects and disabilities and types of classrooms, high school math lab assistant

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about all of their strengths and weaknesses not only in school and with all subjects, but also outside of school, with their family, when playing sports, and when interacting with friends and adults. They also should recognize their likes and dislikes about anything because we learn through many modalities and knowing what works and doesn't is important.
