About Kayla

I am a friendly, outgoing, lover of learning with top training in knowing how to study, communication and working with others. I have been tutoring since high school and have had experience tutoring kids from elementary school to college ages. I major in Creative Writing and French in school but have also taken courses in English literature, film, philosophy, dance, and more! I would love to be your next tutor!

I love showing kids that they CAN learn. I hate to see a kid uninspired, or feeling that they are incapable of doing or learning something. I know the frustrating feeling of thinking I am unable to understand something. On the other hand, I know the feeling of finally understanding something after thinking I couldn't. That proud, smart, on top of the world feeling is what I want to bring to my students, as well as the CONFIDENCE that they can learn other things without difficulty.

I have always loved kids. I got my first opportunity to tutor when I was in high school. Ever since then, I have grabbed as many opportunities as I could to help other students learn.

I have taken several study improvement courses, including grammar courses, how to properly use a dictionary, and the best tips for studying and retiaining information. In high school I tutored freshman in multiple subjects, though it was mostly literature. I also tutored elementary students in literature and a little bit of math. In college I am currently working as a French teaching assistant to freshman, helping them improve their French pronounciation and grammar.

About the lesson

When I have a new student, I always start by introducing myself. We will have a quick conversation to just get to know each other so I can guage how best to proceed with tutoring so the student is as comfortable with me as possible.

I have worked with kids from elementary-college age (7-18). I have limited experience with children with special needs.
