As a highly qualified graduate of the History Education program at East Carolina University, I have learned and demonstrated essential teaching skills including classroom management, personalized learning programs, technology integration, and innovative educational techniques. I have a strong focus on creating a welcoming, respectful environment in my classroom that fosters creativity, confidence, and collaboration in all of my students. I have a passion for creating lessons that target the needs for all learners and I pride myself on using a variety of methods to present material.

My student teaching experience at Riverside High School in Williamston, NC in standard and honors United States History courses prepared me tremendously for my teaching career. I worked with a diverse group of students with a wide range of abilities, providing me with many opportunities to develop differentiation skills to ensure all students received instruction best catered to their learning abilities. I also worked in a co-teaching environment, which allowed me to experience working as a team with other teachers.

I enjoy seeing the content "click" in the students head. Nothing is more rewarding than knowing that a student is struggling with something, then seeing them work hard and finally really get it.

I began becoming interesting in education in High School and went on to study in college.

I graduated from East Carolins University this spring with degrees in Historu and History Education. I completed my student teaching at Riverside High School, working alongside my Clinical Teacher in a co-teaching environment, rather than simply shadowing. My class sizes were typically small so I was able to work with students individually often.

About the lesson

When working with a new student, I make sure to take note of what type of learning experience they are most comfortable with. All students learn differently and tutoring allows the flexibility to tailor to each students needs.

I have worked with many students from poverty and primarily rural areas. Eastern North Carolina is primarily rural so that was mostly the types of schools and students I have worked with. I enjoy working with all types of students. For me, part of the joy is getting to know the student and the ways that they learn best.

My advice would be to find a tutor that you think you will be comfortable working with. In my experience, it is much easier to learn and ask questions if the student is comfortable with the instructor.

A recent event I am fond of would be travelling to Europe last summer with my family. It was so interesting to see the different cultures firsthand.
