About Madi

I am a current 4th year student at Valparaiso University. I am an actuarial science major and mathematics minor. I have a passion for math and helping others. Both of these combined give me the personal and professional ambition to succeed as a tutor. I provide personalized materials to help your kid(s) excel within their mathematics class!

Valparaiso University reached out to me in need of tutors and I was interested! I've been doing it ever since.

I've been tutoring math for about a year now! I go to VU with a major in actuarial science and minor in mathematics. Between this and my highschool education, I have learned and excelled in various math-related classes; for example, algebra 1&2, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calc, AP calculus 1&2, regular and AP statistics, and any college calculus and statistics. I am also capable of teaching any math within chemistry, finance, and economic classes.

About the lesson

Before our sessions, I will create personal worksheets, simplified notes, and study materials. I will adapt to the students' learning style and find what works best for them to excel in the class. After that, each session will start with a review of the material followed by either personalized questions they can work on or they can bring any homework they need help with. Most of the time they have left over questions in which they can work on in their own time for extra practice; I will also send them home with the corresponding answers for them to check their work.

I have worked with students in the middle school level and highschool level. For highschool, I have taught algebra, geometry, pre-calc, and trigonometry.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I recommend students to ask what aspects of their class do they need the most help with. This should then be communicated to their tutor. I believe once the students tackle their hardest obstacle, everything else will become easier and less of a hardship. It really builds up their confidence, too!
