About Austin

Currently, Austin is a senior at the top of his class, with a Economics major and double Math and Psychology minor at San Jose State University with a 3.95 GPA. He scored a 1960/2400 on his SAT and more recently tested at a 1410/1600 on a retake for the SATs - both scores being in the top 90th percentile. He has been a President's Scholar (4.0 GPA) for two consecutive semesters, and holds leadership positions for the Economics Club and the Braven Leadership Club.

He has extensive experience in leadership and teaching roles. He has worked as a camp counselor, after-school activities instructor, and has helds part-time positions tutoring math at De Anza College and as a caretaker for Maxim healthcare. Tutoring is a great fit for him since he has wide-ranging experience and knowledge. His ability to be an effective communicator allows him to assist students in an empathetic and effective manner.

Also, he struggled with math and academics when he was younger, so once he developed an appreciation and aptitude for it, he was able to transmit the knowledge more effectively to students.

Currently, he is tutoring part-time while also holding a position as an technology consultant intern at KPMG Advisory. He plans to pursue an MBA and is currently preparing for the GMAT exams while finishing his last semester in undergraduate studies.

My first teaching job was as an after school science instructor for elementary school children when I was in high school, back in 2011.

About the lesson

I like to understand at what level of proficiency the student is at with the topic at hand. Also, what kind of learning style and working style does the student have. Based on both of those two assessments, we can begin designing a tutoring strategy to best fit the student.

I've worked with all types of students. My students have ranged from kindergarteners to college students. I've also worked with students with learning disabilities and ADHD.
