About Rory
I'm a recent high school graduate, and I finished my school career with a 4.0. I took most honors classes, but I have always gravitated towards English and writing. I took every honors and AP English class offered to me, and I even scored a 4 on my AP Literature and Composition exam. I was quieter than most students, but I still enjoyed talking to my peers from time to time, though it made graduating easier when the end came near.
I was in charge of my school's prose, poetry, and art competition my senior year, and my junior year I was the junior editor to prepare for it. I had tons of fun reaching out to students about their work and being able to offer my help or edit their work if asked. I've always been a fan of editing stories, essays, etc. and my teachers often came to me if they wanted help with a surplus of essays they needed edited. My junior teacher would ask me for help when writing emails as well, I always enjoyed discussing the most clear and professional way of communicating with our school's superintendent.
I am an aspiring author (or editor as my Plan B), so I excel in creative writing (tips, literary devices, etc.), but that interest also helps me with essay writing and editing. I love spelling and grammar, so much so that all my friends hate texting me.

Not everyone learns the same, so I would enjoy making sure our lessons are as personalized and effective with each student.
-We will start with goals, specifically about what you struggle with most and wish to improve!
-Lessons will depend on what you are hoping to achieve from your tutoring (becoming a writer, simply passing a class, studying for a test, etc.).
-After we establish what we need to work on, I will start by going over your previous work/experience.
-Based on your work/experience, we will start with things you think you understand but need a little more help with, and slowly make our way up to whatever is hardest.
-Don't be afraid to ask questions, point out what works or what doesn't, or ask for a break! Stress will only make learning and improving harder.
