About Daniela
My academic and professional background is rooted in biological sciences, forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology. Throughout my career, I have been fascinated by the scientific principles that explain how the world works, from the molecular interactions that sustain life to the biological processes that shape the human body.
My background has given me a strong appreciation for the close relationship between chemistry and biology. Understanding the chemical properties of biological molecules, the mechanisms of biochemical reactions and the processes that occur within living systems is fundamental to many areas of biological science.
Teaching and research experience
I have experience teaching biology and forensic science at further and higher education levels, as well as supervising student research. My professional experience includes research in forensic anthropology and bioarchaeology at Eurac Research, where I worked with human skeletal remains and investigated topics including palaeopathology, skeletal trauma and past populations.
My teaching experience has helped me develop a structured and adaptable approach to explaining scientific concepts. I understand the importance of building a strong foundation, identifying gaps in knowledge and presenting information in a way that makes complex ideas easier to understand.
A supportive and practical approach to learning
I believe science becomes much more approachable when you understand the reasoning behind it. Rather than relying solely on memorisation, I encourage students to make connections between concepts, ask questions and develop their problem-solving skills.
I'm patient, approachable and committed to helping students progress at their own pace. Whether you're finding chemical equations difficult, struggling to understand organic chemistry or trying to make sense of enzymes and metabolic pathways, I'll help you work through the material methodically and build your confidence along the way.
I welcome students preparing for GCSEs and A-levels, as well as first-year undergraduates who want to strengthen their understanding of introductory chemistry and biochemistry.
For me, successful learning is about more than achieving a particular grade. It's about developing the knowledge and confidence to approach new challenges independently and discovering that subjects which once seemed difficult can become genuinely interesting.
Let's make chemistry understandable and uncover the fascinating chemistry behind life!

From understanding chemical reactions to exploring the molecules that make life possible, my aim is to make chemistry and biochemistry clear, logical and engaging.
Chemistry and biochemistry can initially seem challenging, particularly when faced with unfamiliar terminology, abstract concepts, equations and complex biological processes. My approach is to break these topics down into manageable steps, helping you understand the underlying principles rather than simply memorising information.
My teaching approach
Every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to your current level, individual needs and academic goals. I focus on building a solid understanding of the fundamentals before progressing to more complex concepts, ensuring that each new topic makes sense in the context of what you already know.
Depending on the subject and your learning preferences, I use clear explanations, worked examples, diagrams, practice questions and real-world applications. I encourage active participation and questions throughout lessons, helping you identify gaps in your knowledge and develop the confidence to solve problems independently.
I particularly enjoy connecting chemistry with biology, showing how chemical principles underpin the processes that take place within living organisms. Understanding these connections can make abstract concepts more intuitive and help you see the bigger picture.
Topics I can help with
• Chemistry: atomic structure, the periodic table, chemical bonding, chemical equations, stoichiometry, acids and bases, energetics, rates of reaction and introductory organic chemistry.
• Biochemistry: biological molecules, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, enzymes, DNA and RNA, metabolism and the chemical processes underlying cellular function.
• Exam preparation: consolidating key concepts, practising exam-style questions, improving problem-solving skills and developing effective revision strategies.
The exact topics we cover will depend on your syllabus, course requirements and areas of difficulty.
What to expect from a lesson
Lessons typically last 60 minutes, with flexibility to adapt the pace and structure to your needs. We can focus on a specific topic, work systematically through your syllabus, revisit difficult concepts or prepare for an upcoming assessment.
I offer support for GCSE and A-level students, as well as first-year undergraduate students who need help consolidating foundational chemistry or biochemistry concepts. University-level support is focused on introductory material rather than advanced specialist modules.
My goal is for you to leave each lesson with a clearer understanding of the subject, greater confidence in your abilities and practical strategies for approaching unfamiliar questions.
You don't need to memorise everything to succeed in science. You need to understand how it works. Let's build that understanding together!
