About Trish

I love teaching, however, I came to this pathway after first becoming a mentor in 2005/2006. I learned that my passion for mentoring translated to teaching people to achieve their full potential and build their confidence. Without self-belief and a thorough grounding in the basics of any field, but particularly language, it is hard to project and practice hard-won skills. My approach is to build on your dedication to mastering one of the most challenging languages in the world to learn! I endeavor to do so in a fun and memorable way, and take you on field trips and social functions where applicable, so you can apply your knowledge in a safe environment that stimulates your interest. This means I don’t teach solely from textbooks: your hobbies and interests are key to keeping you engaged, so you can enjoy an art gallery, sports, or indulge yourself in niche activities like attending Parliament House and learning political jargon for your spare time.

About the lesson

With over 23 years experience and having studied 8 LOTEs in varied environments (in-country immersion with no previous knowledge, intensive programs such as the ADF School of Languages, Chinese university, and ANU), I have learned how to learn languages and want to teach you to do so too! ^_^ I have a complex suite of teaching aids that I have developed since beginning my journey as a polyglot and lifelong linguist. I make these tools available to my students to ensure they are engaged with the style of learning that best suits the individual; I also know how to help you determine what those methods are!
