My Teaching Method
I use a phonics-based, comprehension-driven approach that builds both decoding skills and understanding. Lessons are tailored to your child’s grade level, interests, and learning style. I incorporate games, read-alouds, guided practice, and hands-on activities to keep sessions engaging while reinforcing essential skills in vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
Warm-Up: A quick literacy game or activity to spark focus and excitement.
Skill Focus: Introduction or review of a specific reading skill—such as phonics patterns, sight words, or comprehension strategies—using child-friendly examples.
Guided Reading: Reading a leveled text together, practicing fluency and expression, with prompts to support understanding.
Independent Practice: The student reads short passages or works on word activities independently while I offer guidance as needed.
Wrap-Up: Review the day’s progress, celebrate successes, and set a small, achievable goal for next time.
What Sets Me Apart
I combine structured reading instruction with creativity and fun, so children stay engaged and motivated. My sessions balance skill-building with confidence-building, helping students feel proud of their progress. I also collaborate with parents by sharing strategies and simple activities to reinforce learning at home.
Who I Teach
I work with elementary students in grades K–6, supporting early readers, reluctant readers, and those who need targeted help to strengthen skills. Whether your child is learning to read, reading to learn, or needs a boost in confidence, I create a personalized plan that makes reading a positive and rewarding experience.
