About Seth

As someone who strove for academic excellence during school and assisting my peers along the way I learned what challenges come with the difficult subjects such as stress or anxiety towards exams. However, having learned those lessons I understand how important it is to create a welcoming and judgment-free space to learn, make mistakes (after all failure is the best teacher), and help students improve. Having been tutored myself in year 11, I was able to gain early entry to Uni in my dream course, engineering, and was able to develop excellent learning and teaching habits through helping my friends throughout school, as well as learning important strategies to take into my exams to excel. All of these experiences led me to decide to become a tutor in university to help others through the difficult subjects school kids have to do to end up with their dream course or dream job.

About the lesson

Despite not having tutored in depth before professionally I have tutored many of my close friends and younger brothers close friends across math and science-based subjects. Thereby, I am confident tutoring all high-school levels from years 7-11 for mathematics; both math methods and year 10-11 specialist, and years 7-12 for physics. Typically I will ask the student what they are struggling with or what they would like to master and spend roughly 30 minutes on that topic before moving on if I believe they have mastered the skill, during this time I will get them to attempt the question until they get stuck, see I can help them solve it by giving them hints, however if they still don’t understand I will provide an example on a different question similar to theirs explaining my process throughout. Typically 2 topics will be covered or one difficult topic over sessions 1-1.5 hours long. As an engineering student I am highly competent in specialist math and math methods as well as complex physics problems which provides me with a strong platform to tutor with my knowledge base.
