About Be

I love tutoring. Since early elementary school I have found joy in helping my fellow students understand course material. Math (especially algebra, trigonometry, and geometry) is my favorite subject to tutor. I want nothing more than to make the educational process easier for those who find the journey challenging- and have fun while we do it! I am so lucky to have so many amazing students to work with, and I cant wait to add you or your student to that list. I look forward to working with you!

I've had many students who felt frustrated and hopeless about their courses. Many students know they're confused but don't know what questions to ask, or maybe they don't know how to get the information they're looking for. I love being able to provide the support and confidence students need to alleviate their frustrations. It has been a real treat to watch my students evolve during our lessons.

I was dually-enrolled in high school and university at the time, and I wanted a job that could work with my chopped-up schedule. I had previously tutored friends and classmates, and thought private tutoring would be right up my alley. My parents are both educators, and tutoring has always come naturally to me. I love that it gives me freedom with my schedule while still being fun and fulfilling work.

I have been a private tutor for over five years now. I've had over 100 students, most of whom have seen great improvement in their work. I was a teacher's assistant and volunteer at my high school where I got to work with teachers and students on making classes clearer and more fun.

I have some preliminary questions I ask every new client. After those, I try to make the student comfortable and talk for a bit about what they like to do and who they are. I like to make our sessions fun, and a lot of that comes from incorporating things my students enjoy into our lessons.

I've had all types of students! I have had students who are over-achievers (like myself) and wanted to turn their A- into an A+. I've had students who were really struggling and needed to review old material before we could move forward. I've had athletes who need help finding study methods that actually work, and fitting them into their schedule. I've had students with special needs who need to be made comfortable before they're ready to show you how talented and amazing they are. I've had extroverted, introverted, shy, curious, bored, tired, excited, unmotivated, and persistent students, all of whom saw progress after our sessions together.

I base my pricing on the difficulty of the subject, the range of information we need to cover, and the student/family's financial ability. I tutor K-12, but prices can range drastically even in the same class. Teaching a young child to structure sentences may be $30/hr, while teaching a student the same age how to read would be closer to $55/hr. My prices range from $25-$65, with most sessions costing around $35/hr.
