Find your piano teacher in Kawartha Lakes

In Kawartha Lakes, you can expect to pay approximately $25/h for a private piano lesson.

This rate can vary depending on several factors:

• The student's level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
• The teacher's experience and qualifications (degrees, certifications, performance history)
• How long and how often you book sessions (30, 45, or 60 minutes weekly)
• The format (face-to-face, studio-based, or virtual via video call)

Many teachers offer package deals or discounts for booking multiple sessions in advance. Virtual lessons tend to cost less since travel is eliminated. A number of teachers offer a free trial lesson so you can assess their teaching style.

This principle suggests that 20% of what you practise drives 80% of your improvement.

• It encourages you to spend time on chord transitions and finger exercises that challenge you most.
• Identify which pieces or passages cause the most frustration, then give them dedicated attention.
• A focused 20-minute session on a hard passage often beats an hour of unfocused play.

By applying this rule, students often see noticeable improvement within weeks.

Correct hand shape is the foundation of technique and helps you build speed without tension.

• Your hand should form a relaxed dome shape with fingertips pointing down toward the keys.
• Keep your wrist level with your forearm, not bent up or drooping down.
• Strike the keys with your fingertips, not your flat finger pads, to gain control and clarity.
• Relax your shoulders and elbows so tension does not travel into your hands.

Practising this posture from day one prevents bad habits that are hard to fix later.
