About Maddison
Hi! I’m an experienced tutor and independent developer who believes the best way to master math and coding is by building real things.
My Background
I bring a wealth of professional, adaptable teaching experience to my sessions. Having worked as a tutor at the community college level and through New York State’s ACCESS-VR program, I have helped students from all walks of life achieve their academic and vocational goals. My background means I understand how to break down complex, frustrating topics into manageable, bite-sized steps. I pride myself on patience, adaptability, and creating a low-stress environment where it is safe to make mistakes and ask questions.
My Teaching Approach
I don’t just teach theory—I focus on hands-on application. If you are learning to code, we won't just stare at a textbook. We will build tangible projects. Depending on your goals, we can write Python bots that scrape the web, build and deploy custom HTML websites using GitHub Pages, or explore game logic by creating ASCII-based retro games and automated Minecraft command blocks.
If you are coming to me for mathematics, I use my programming background to make math less abstract. We will focus on the actual logic behind the numbers, making it easier to visualize and solve problems.
What We Can Cover:
Mathematics: Foundational math, algebra, and the logic that powers computer science.
Web Development: HTML, site architecture, and deploying live custom domains.
Python & Scripting: Writing functional scripts, automation bots, and data processing.
Game Logic & Mechanics: Foundational game development, command block scripting, and redstone engineering.
Let's Get Started!
Whether you are trying to pass a tough math class, wanting to launch your first website, or looking to design your own indie game, I am here to guide you step-by-step. Send me a message with what you are looking to learn, and let's build a customized learning plan!

My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that learning math and programming shouldn’t feel like memorizing a dry textbook. My lessons are highly interactive, practical, and tailored entirely to how you learn best. Drawing from my experience in both college tutoring and vocational instruction, I know that everyone absorbs information differently. Whether you need concepts broken down into visual diagrams, step-by-step logic flows, or immediate hands-on coding, I adapt to your pace.
What to Expect in a Typical Session:
The Warm-Up (5-10 mins): We start by reviewing any previous material, answering lingering questions, and setting a clear, achievable goal for the day's session.
The Core Concept (15-20 mins): We tackle the new topic. For math, we break down the formulas and the logic behind them. For coding, we look at the syntax and what the code is actually doing behind the scenes.
Hands-On Application (25-30 mins): This is where the real learning happens. Instead of just watching me, you will share your screen. We will work through math problems together or write live code—whether that means debugging a Python script, structuring an HTML page, or troubleshooting game logic.
The Wrap-Up (5 mins): We review what we accomplished, celebrate the wins, and I provide a small, optional challenge or project to keep your skills sharp before our next lesson.
Who These Lessons Are For:
Students & Adult Learners: Anyone needing to pass a math class, learn modern web development, or pivot into a tech-adjacent skill set.
Hobbyists & Creatives: If you want to build your own indie games, script automated bots, or experiment with custom servers, I can help you turn your ideas into functional projects.
Non-Traditional Learners: If standard classroom environments haven't worked for you in the past, don't worry. I specialize in finding the teaching method that clicks for you.
Session Format & Tools:
All lessons are conducted online via webcam and screen sharing. We will use live, collaborative environments—like shared code editors and digital whiteboards—so I can guide you in real time exactly as if we were sitting at the same desk.
