About Serena
I am a Chemistry tutor with over 4 years of experience and a BSc in Chemistry. My passion lies in making complex topics in quantum chemistry clear and engaging for university students. I believe that even the most abstract concepts can be understood when explained with the right balance of theory and illustration. In my lessons, I focus on atomic and molecular orbitals, bonding theories, and spectroscopic transitions. I use visual models, step-by-step derivations, and real examples to help students connect equations to chemical reality. This approach allows them to see how electronic structures directly determine the behaviour of matter. I have worked with chemistry majors who need depth in theory and physical science students who require clarity for interdisciplinary learning. Each group benefits from tailored guidance, whether they aim for exam success, research readiness, or a solid foundation for advanced study. I encourage active participation and critical thinking in every session. Rather than memorising, students learn to reason through problems and apply concepts with confidence. I also highlight the connections between theory and experimental data, helping learners see the full picture of quantum chemistry. By the end of my lessons, students not only understand abstract principles but also appreciate their role in explaining chemical properties at the electronic level. Join me to master quantum chemistry and unlock the tools to interpret the molecular world with precision.

My teaching approach in Chemistry is centred on nurturing curiosity and building strong, personalised understanding. I believe every student learns best when concepts are connected to real-life challenges and meaningful examples. That’s why I place a strong focus on environmental chemistry, pollution remediation, green chemistry principles, and sustainable processes. In my sessions, students learn how chemical ideas are not just theories in books but tools for solving pressing global issues. I use simple explanations, interactive discussions, and relatable case studies to show how chemistry can guide us towards a healthier planet. This helps learners develop conscious chemical thinking that goes beyond exams and assignments. I encourage students to ask questions, explore alternatives, and reflect on the impact of their learning. Whether it’s understanding how pollutants are treated, how green chemistry reduces waste, or how energy-efficient processes are designed, I ensure the learning is practical and inspiring. I also support learners from different backgrounds, including those with interests in fields like wildlife photography and medical technology, by showing them chemistry’s deep connections with sustainability and health. My role is to guide them step by step, while making the subject both clear and motivating. By the end of each lesson, students gain confidence, clarity, and a new perspective on chemistry as a force for good. Together, we celebrate curiosity, sharpen problem-solving skills, and strengthen appreciation for chemistry’s role in creating a sustainable future.
