About Jonathan

I have been teaching guitar and other fretted instruments (including banjo, mandolin, and ukulele) for over 10 years. Over 50 students ranging from ages 5 to 80 can be accounted for in my teaching history. My students have built the courage to take on new musical endeavors to share with their family, friends, and community.

About the lesson

I ensure that every student receives a fundamental foundation pertaining to the subject. While learning the basics, I advise that the student organizes their lessons and materials in a way that displays progress over time. With the proper knowledge, we can treat the heart of a subject with refinement in order to grasp its purpose and reason---whether its music or math.

Jonathan was a colleague of mine during our doctoral studies together. His expertise in classical and electric guitar surely make him the BEST new teacher in Sarasota. The success of his students around the country is proof he can cultivate children as musicians, no matter their unique starting point, and share a genuine appreciation of music for life. Jonathan has my highest recommendation!

Jonathan is an incredibly skilled music teacher in every sense of the word. As a fellow professional musician and colleague, I have had many opportunities to observe his teaching artistry in multiple scenarios with students spanning from complete beginners to semi-professionals and even hobbyists. He has a unique ability to adapt his teaching methods and style to any students individual needs, never making them feel inferior, always motivating. Whether you are a serious classical musician or want to learn just for fun, you truly won’t find a more talented, capable, patient, kind and compassionate teacher than Jonathan.
