About Coor

Recently graduated with a 2:1 in Popular Music (Research) Master's degree. Whilst at University I started tutoring other students and locals in the area and found a real passion in teaching. This gave me a chance to refresh what I had learnt at University and learn a new skill in tailoring my lessons to what the student needed. Whether they wanted to start go playing in a Rock band or for their church.

About the lesson

My teaching method is to use the first few lessons to establish what the student wishes to learn and get a sense of their skill level. I then tailor future lessons around what they want to learn, whilst finding ways to incorporate musicology into the lesson. E.g. if a student would like to learn to play like Slash, I would research the scale that Slash commonly uses (Mixolydian) and incorporate it into the lesson via having the student solo over a Guns and Roses song. Or if they were more interested in Songwriting, show them how Slash's songs are structured.

Review

All of our reviews are collected by us and are 100% reliable. They correspond to a real experience lived by the teacher's students.

Perfect! My daughter loved her taster session with Coor. He really took the time to listen to what she wanted out of the session and had a kind and encouraging attitude. Highly recommend

Perfect! Coor teaches at my pace, with visual explanations, learning something new in every class even though it's online. I feel I am getting to understand notes in just a couple of weeks.

Went to uni with Connor and even though we have different styles we instantly clicked and I respect him as a musician and a friend! His passion and ability to understand music is so unique and he’s the first person I ask for any guitar help or to feature on my tracks! More importantly he’s just fun to be around so defo worth getting in touch

Coor is not just an exceptional guitarist, but a keen music historian also. I believe his tutelage will therefore help students become not just better players, but more rounded and open-minded members of a diverse music community. Oh, and he's a decent chap to boot x

Great tutor for anyone who wants to learn at any stage, I've always wanted to learn guitar but never had the mindset to actually learn as found it difficult when in school, but with coor and his unique teaching methods and patients I managed to pick it up a lot easier, and now instead of a guitar just sitting in the room staring at me collecting dust I have the confidence and skills to play it and learn more, I highly recommend coor to anyone who wants to learn the basics of a guitar, studying for an exam or just to learn your favourite songs.
