About William
Hi,
I'm William (or Will for short).
I'm a New Zealander who holds Bachelors and Masters degrees in history and politics from the University of Victoria in Wellington, in addition to a Cambridge Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA). Over the last decade, here in NZ as well as in Germany and Belgium, I've worked as an essay writing mentor, ESOL teacher, political aide, policy analyst and governance official. Specifically in ESOL teaching and mentoring, I have around 3 years of experience.
In addition to my native English, I've taught myself fluent French and German and have lived in those countries for around 4 years in total. I am passionate about teaching, formal writing and languages generally. Moreover, having myself gone through the process of learning a language twice, I am familiar with the struggles and challenges that students face.
Nothing delights me more than seeing learners achieve their goals and grasp concepts that had previously eluded them!

I help students become self-sufficient learners by teaching and mentoring them through the nuts and bolts of English grammar and homing in on key aspects of formal writing, such as structure and concision. Once students engage and understand these supposedly 'intimidating' topics, they can continue their journey as writers and English learners with real confidence. Moreover, when approached properly, grammar and essay writing can also be fun!
I have around 3 years of experience teaching English to students of all levels of proficiency (A1 to C2), and essay writing to students at the Bachelors and Masters level.
My typical lesson length is 1 hour.
