About Samantha

Hi everyone!! My name is Samantha, and I'm a first-year student at the University of Pittsburgh majoring in Neuroscience on the pre-med track! I'm currently looking to take on some more tutoring students.

I have over 150 hours of tutoring experience through platforms like Learn To Be and Wyzant, and I've worked with students of different ages and grade levels. In high school, I took a combination of Honors, AP, and IB courses, so I'm pretty familiar with how challenging some of these classes can get (especially when you're taking multiple at once!).

About the lesson

* Biology: On-level, Honors, AP, and IB
* Psychology: AP Psychology
* Math: On-level and Honors Algebra 1 & 2
* English: AP English Language, essay writing, college application essays, and reading comprehension

A little about how I tutor! Something that's really important to me is making sure students actually understand what they're learning instead of just memorizing steps to get through their homework. I usually start by explaining a concept, work through a few examples with them, and then encourage them to try problems on their own while I guide them through anything they're struggling with. I've found that students become a lot more confident when they realize they can figure things out independently!

I'm also happy to help with homework, studying for tests, AP exam prep, or just keeping up with material throughout the school year.

Rate: Starting at $30/hour
Availability: My schedule is pretty flexible! I'm available during
after-school hours, evenings, and weekends. I'm currently in Eastern Time, but I'm more than happy to work around different time zones!

I genuinely really enjoy tutoring, especially getting to know my students and seeing their progress over time. I'd love to work with some more families this school year!
