About Alexandra
Hello! I've worked as a political science lecturer for 10+ years at a large university, where I have mentored and worked with a diverse student body from straight-A students looking to go above and beyond to non-traditional students who need to get the most from their education while juggling other life responsibilities to neurodivergent and autistic students seeking education that takes their unique perspective into account. I'm passionate about teaching--imparting real, usable knowledge--and meeting students where they are to help them where they want to go!

Lesson plans tailored to the needs of the student ranging from basic civics and US government education to test-specific requirements. In a lesson, we'll cover what you need to know, why it matters and how it relates to your life, and how to master the topics within the lesson. I teach in a way that helps you take the lessons with you beyond exams and into your long-term memory. I often use stories as a context to help you retain the information and be able to use it in essays. Example Lesson: US Constitution - Circumstances leading up to the Declaration of Independence and American Revolutionary War - Founding Fathers' primary standpoints & the big conflicts that helped craft the US Constitution - How to remember the 7 articles of the Constitution and what they mean - The 6 big "eras" that changed the Constitution through amendments - The stories and conflicts that led to these big changes - What the US Constitution looks like today and why that matters moving forward I am a VERY big proponent for approaching political studies from a nonpartisan standpoint, and I relay facts over biases. These lessons focus on the beliefs and circumstances that have led to shifts in US politics and civic responsibilities, and I believe high school and college students should decide what they believe about those facts and circumstances.
