About Summer

I have taken classes pre-algebra through biocalculus with an A in each subject and tutored many students of all ages in math, biology and introduction to physical sciences, helping some of them raise their grade by two letters. I was a teacher’s assistant for the aforementioned subjects for a year and a classroom aide in an elementary school for a semester, teaching kids basic math and reading. Many of my students struggled with ADHD or other mental handicaps that complicated academics for them, but with patience, hard work and understanding, all students can improve.

About the lesson

Firstly, I think viewing learning from a positive perspective is essential to being successful, so I try to make the experience enjoyable rather than stressful. I first identify where a student is struggling and why the classroom teacher’s methods aren’t resonating. I then apply different methods and observe the learning styles of my students to effectively teach difficult concepts. As a young student myself, I identify with the modern scholarly experience and it’s difficulties, so I can connect with my students in that aspect, which is ultimately beneficial to them.
