About Tarra

I used to be a tutor, so I have experience in the field already. By continuing my education through college, I have learned a lot more about how to effectively teach by being part of study groups, seeing many different professors, and excelling in my degree.

During each tutoring session, I will encourage, engage, ask questions, and develop a unique teaching style for what fits my student the best. This is all about your success, not mine! When my students succeed and improve, learn, and meet their goals, that is their accomplishment! All I want to do is assist in that in whatever way I can.

About the lesson

Hi there! I study Industrial Engineering and am now in my final year of my Bachelors degree. I am flexible and eager to tutor a variety of grade levels and subjects.

My goals as a tutor is to implement critical thinking and communication into every lesson, as well as to guide my students into study habits that are compatible with their learning style and academic goals.

The main way I accomplish this is by getting my students to teach me; I ask lots of questions rather than lecturing, and help students to find the answer themselves to foster confidence and a sense of accomplishment rather than the boredom and disengagement that often comes from lectures.

Lots of practice problems and examples are essential, particularly in math classes, and I like to provide the "Why do I need this?" behind the material that is often lost in the hub-bub of classrooms.
