About Simon

I am a specialist GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics Tutor covering the major syllabi:
- Pearson Edexcel GCSE Mathematics (1MA1), Higher
- AQA GCSE Mathematics (8300), Higher
- Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics (0580), Extended
- Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A (4MA1), Higher

My other specialisation in Primary Mathematics covers students of any background studying any curriculum. I tutor primarily children from ages 6 to 9.
While I study mathematics and theoretical physics at a university, I chose to specialise my tutoring only on two areas: GCSE and IGCSE Mathematics and Primary Education Mathematics, instead of having to split my focus across too many different areas.
Thanks to this specialisation, I have been able to carry out extensive analysis and research in order to offer lessons structured around the specifications of both syllabi and to provide focused exam preparation. As well as try to understand the methods and psychology for teaching children mathematics.

About the lesson

My lessons are visual and utilise computer software, allowing my students to actually see how the mathematics unfold.
I also work with my students outside of our lessons through assignments, corrections, and further practice, all hosted on my private website, which serves as a personal hub for our materials.
Furthermore, I provide a supportive learning environment, which I believe to be essential for making studying less stressful and allowing students to make consistent progress.
I offer a free first lesson where I introduce new students to the way I tutor.

Perfect! We’re so pleased we found Mr Simon! My daughter is in Year 2 of the British curriculum and was struggling with basic maths, often feeling confused by numbers, counting and symbols such as minus and equals. I was initially unsure because Simon mainly teaches older students, including GCSE, but after the trial my daughter was eager to continue.
Simon’s patient, structured approach has made a remarkable difference. He starts with the foundations, explains each concept clearly and works at her pace, making sure she understands before moving on. After just two lessons, she can recognise and use maths symbols much more confidently, has begun to understand multiplication and is no longer as overwhelmed by numbers and counting. Most importantly, her confidence and enthusiasm have noticeably grown in a subject she previously found difficult. I would highly recommend Simon to parents of younger primary school children too!

I loved that there was communication and help even outside of the lessons, so I never had to feel on my own for more than a couple of days.
Also the lessons are just exceptional. Very clean and structured and visually helpful. And the fact that I didn't have to take notes since Simon sends all the material helped me focus during the lessons themselves.

I appreciate Simon's patience, it happened a lot of times that I felt like I was never going to grasp a topic, but he just didn't give up and figures out how to make it click.
