About Jacqui

Hi! My name is Jacqui and I am a qualified ESOL teacher and a native English speaker. I studied English language and linguistics from King's College London and that is where I developed my love for teaching English to learners of different backgrounds and cultures.

I have a passion for languages as I believe being able to communicate with people in the same language is key in building relationships and fostering connections. As I studied English Language and Linguistics at King's College London, I fell in love with understanding the role of language, how it contributes to societies and various contexts such as in education, at work and in everyday life.

I'm patient, calm, caring and kind and these are qualities that are important because learning a language is never an easy journey. It is important to take it one step at a time. I am a teacher that cares about your progress and I aim to support you in the best way I can. Therefore, I invite you to ask me questions if anything is unclear to you and we can spend as long as necessary to ensure that you understand a concept before moving on to the next one.

I strive to build a rapport with all of my students which will aid in having more natural conversations in our lessons and a healthier learning atmosphere. No matter the area you wish to improve in, all lessons are tailored to your needs. This means that in the first session, I want to get to know your goals and what you hope to achieve over the course of the lessons we will have together. I will also get to know you as a person which will help me to find the appropriate material to use in our lessons which you may also find interesting. Essentially, anything that will make the lesson engaging!

About the lesson

The key is to get you, the learner, to speak as much as possible. This means that we will look at articles, listen to podcasts and watch Youtube videos in order to practice ways we can incorporate new words and phrases into our daily conversations in English, as well as be able to understand other English speakers.

I have worked with children in a classroom setting including students with SEN needs. I have also provided 1-1 private tutoring sessions online and in-person. This includes at GCSE and SATS level as well as conversational English lessons where I supported adults and teenagers in becoming more fluent in speaking English. Moreover, I have supported learners in their reading, listening and grammar comprehension.

I provide lessons to anyone with an interest in learning to speak English or improve their conversation skills. Whether you are a child, teenager or an adult, I am willing to teach anyone with a desire to learn. My lessons will typically last an hour and I can work at any day that suits you.
