About Youssef

Hi! I'm Youssef, an Electrical Engineering graduate from the University of Alberta, currently working as a Field Application Engineer.

I've always had a passion for math, physics, and understanding how things work. Throughout my engineering education and professional career, I've developed a strong foundation in mathematics, calculus, and physics, along with experience applying these concepts to real-world engineering problems.

I know firsthand that math and physics can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when concepts aren't explained clearly. But I've also learned that even the most challenging topics become much easier when they're broken down into simple, understandable steps.

I'm patient, friendly, and approachable, and I believe there's no such thing as a silly question. Everyone learns differently, and I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.

As a practicing engineer, I bring both academic knowledge and real-world perspective to my lessons. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and hopefully develop a genuine appreciation for math and physics.

Whether you're struggling with a subject, preparing for an important exam, or simply looking to get ahead, I'd be happy to help you reach your goals!

My teaching philosophy is simple: understanding why something works is much more valuable than simply memorizing formulas.

I focus on making math and physics clear, approachable, and even enjoyable. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style, pace, and explanations to suit their individual needs and learning goals.

**My Teaching Approach**

- Concept-Based Learning: I start by explaining the fundamentals in simple terms before introducing more challenging problems.
- Step-by-Step Explanations: I break down difficult questions into manageable steps, making sure students understand the reasoning behind each solution.
- Real-World Examples: Drawing from my engineering background, I connect mathematical and scientific concepts to practical applications whenever possible.
- Interactive Learning: Rather than simply showing students the answers, I guide them through problems and encourage them to develop their own problem-solving skills.
- Personalized Support: Whether you're catching up, preparing for an exam, or trying to achieve higher grades, lessons are tailored to your needs.

**What a Typical Lesson Looks Like**

1. We begin by reviewing any questions, homework, or topics you're finding difficult.
2. I explain the key concepts using clear examples and visual explanations when helpful.
3. We work through practice problems together, gradually increasing the difficulty.
4. You'll have an opportunity to solve problems independently while I provide guidance and feedback.
5. We finish by reviewing what you've learned and identifying what to focus on next.

**Who My Lessons Are For**

I offer math and physics tutoring for students at different educational levels:

- Elementary School (Grades 4–6): Foundational math, fractions, decimals, percentages, and problem-solving.
- Junior High (Grades 7–9): Mathematics, algebra, geometry, and introductory science concepts.
- High School (Grades 10–12): Math 10C, Math 20-1, Math 30-1, Math 31 (Calculus), Physics 20, and Physics 30.
- University and College: Introductory calculus, algebra, physics, and basic electrical engineering concepts.

**What Makes My Lessons Different**

As a working electrical engineer, I understand how the subjects taught in classrooms connect to real-world applications.

I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging learning environment where students never feel embarrassed about asking questions. My priority is to help you understand the material, become more confident in your abilities, and eventually solve challenging problems independently.

Whether your goal is to pass a difficult course, improve your grades, or build a stronger foundation for future studies, we'll work together at a pace that works for you.
