About Maciek

I have taught both at home and from home, via internet, always focusing on being flexible and personalising my help to particular needs of my students. This led them to catch up with the material after an illness, get their head around chemical calculations, which were not explained well at school, and prepare for the end of high school exam.

About the lesson

I focus on personalising my teaching to each student, while keeping the atmosphere casual and fun. The aspect I am most proud of is the ability to spot the gaps in the knowledge and skills of a student, which then can be readily filled in, with emphasis on understanding each topic on fundamental levels that makes chemistry really easy and satisfying! Each student is different and struggles with different concepts but together we can help you ace that exam that may loom large in your mind right now. Chemistry is ultimately about electrons doing some interesting stuff, and using imagination, logic and the basic fact that - attracts +, while - repels - , we can get you to master all the seemingly scary or problematic curriculum.

Smart student; should focus on practice and remembering to include details: units and the end and during calculations (to know that the right things do in fact cancel out), unit conversions (esp J vs kJ in enthalpy calculations), symbols of standard state and exact for in which a substance is present in the reaction (eg g for gas, aq for aqueous solution, l for liquid, s for solid etc), details in thermodynamic definitions - crucial for thermodynamic cycles! eg it does make a difference whether we go to solvated ion or atom or and ion or atom in gaseous form)
Also I would love to have any sort of direct communication with the student so that I can check his problem solving answers before lessons and send written summaries, notes and reminders of key points from tutorials (the student could whatsapp or email).

He helped me with understanding and learning topics that I was studying at school – especially salts, hydroxides, acids, oxides, stoichiometry, electrolytes, bases, organic chemistry and alcohols. He was very patient with me and explained previously mentioned topics very thoroughly and slowly. His help was irreplaceable and even made me interested in what I was learning.
