About Vincent
I'm a English student at UNC Charlotte with a concentration in Language and Digital Technology and minor in Software development. I want to tutor English because I'm passionate about becoming an academic at a collegiate level. I come from a background where I had to do a lot of self learning in order to get where I am. I'm more than motivated to share my experience with writing, reading, proofreading, and more from the perspective of someone who understands English as a native and non-native speaker. I have taught students as young as 6 years of age and as old as 18 years of age. In all my experiences, students walk away with some new understanding of English. I started volunteer teaching at my local parish. I originally taught faith formation/development courses. Now I am passionate about teaching English.
My education is in English with a concentration in Language and Digital Technology. A few of the courses I have already taken include Creative University Writing, Russian and Norse Literature courses, and Technical Writing courses. I do not yet have my degree, but am passionate about sharing my experience with English.

We spend the first few sessions figuring out what the student knows by taking a series of small quizzes developed for beginner English students. After developing a foundation for the student's curriculum, we begin working on improving or learning needed skills.
I've worked primarily with Asian students, but I have also worked with Black, White, and Latino students. Most of the time, these students are good with other courses, but struggle more with English.
Look for someone who is passionate about their subject, but also someone who is patient and kind.

Details
In general, I charge $10 per hour and teach 3 per session. I also only offer 1 session per student per day. This is to prevent overworking students who have other obligations.
