About Samantha

I communicate ALOT! The parents/students are always in the loop with my ideas/plans. I establish goals for the students as well as establish goals for the parents to help maintain a fun/stress free learning environment. I engage the student in working hard to achieve their goals. I praise progress!! This is super important! Progress is progress. Learning is stressful for students. It is a concept that is different which is ok! If a student gets a 5/10 their first try and 7/10 their second try, you better believe I praise their progress. Showing this praise helps them want to achieve higher goals.

I enjoy the silly/important things like organizing and establishing a plan, but I also enjoy learning from the students. Teaching/tutoring is a learning process for all parties (tutor, students, parents). Seeing the students enjoy learning with the fun activities I create is why I keep doing this. Seeing the parents become relieved and somewhat stress free from the education side is why I keep doing this.

I've had 3 years of tutoring experience with one year of that on my own and two years of that with a company. Ages ranged from kindergarten level to high school level.

I generally like to spend the first 1-3 days getting a feel of the student's learning experiences (many students learn in different ways so it is very important to understand how they learn to better teach). After, I set up a one month lesson plan focusing on the specific tutoring need. This includes following the parents/students input as well as my own. No plan is set and stone, it is just a guideline, but this lesson plan is to ensure organization and goals.
