About

Hi! I'm McKenna, and I'm a rising junior at Wellesley College. As an English and Creative Writing major, I've become adept at writing expository essays, research papers, and creative writing pieces. Throughout my academic career, I’ve enjoyed helping my peers with all parts of their writing, from brainstorming and research, to outlining and drafting, or to revising and proofreading. I have experience in teaching middle school kids creative writing; I worked with eighth grade students at Seven Hills School in Walnut Creek, California on developing and writing Shakespeare-inspired plays. I’d love to work with you and chart a path to success. Together–through patience, positive reinforcement, and hard work–I believe we can accomplish whatever your English or writing goal may be.

I'm passionate about writing in all its forms, and I hope that my passion will transfer to my students. As someone who plans to pursue a career in creative writing, I get deeply excited about storytelling. However, the scholar in me adores the satisfaction of perfecting a well-crafted essay. I love working with students individually and discovering his or her passions; I always seek to incorporate them into the curriculum.

-Met bi-weekly with first grade student to practice reading and writing

-Improved student’s reading speed and comprehension through taking turns reading aloud

-Facilitated short story writing to practice spelling and lettering and to increase the student’s passion for writing
