About Debbie

I am an experienced and qualified lecturer, teacher and former course leader with over 15 years experience.

I have course led Access students, taught a variety of subjects including Sociology, Social Policy, Psychology, Government and Politics and Media Studies as well as delivering many key skills units (study skills, exam skills, work related skills) in both further and higher educational institutions.

I have taught A Level Government and Politics and A Level Sociology both intensively and extensively and I have developed well, tried and tested techniques for success according to exam board specifications.

About the lesson

I am a very experienced, warm, approachable and informal teacher that values how important a positive relationship with tutees and family is. My focus is on building self esteem and confidence - the key to progress.

My particular approach is to normally mix subject content with exam and study skills and application (timed essays for instance for A Level or practise questions), but I try to create an ‘individualised’ plan and bespoke approach for each particular student that I constantly re assess and adapt.

I have had great success with most of my private students over the years, with most improving their grades and going on to university.

I have up to date safeguarding training, a fully enhanced dbs, a BA Hons, MA, DTTLS (QTS) and Cert in FE Teaching. I offer a mobile service, so students can see me in their own homes or have online tuition. (prices differ depending on location and form of tuition). I always offer a free informal meeting to discuss and plan tuition.

One 2 One , outside 5 mile radius in learners home - £25 p h

One 2 One, outside 20 mile radius, in learners home -£30 p h
