About Marissa

With me, your child isn’t just getting a tutor, they’re getting someone who shows up with positive energy, patience, and a genuine love for helping others grow. As a senior at the University of Miami, I’ve balanced a demanding academic schedule while working hands-on in a fast-paced environment, which has taught me the value of preparation, adaptability, and communication. I take the time to really get to know my students, understand how they learn best, and create a space where they feel safe, supported, and proud of themselves. I believe every kid has so much potential, and I’m here to help them tap into it with confidence, creativity, and just the right mix of structure and fun.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on creating a calm, encouraging, and personalized learning environment. I know every student learns differently, so I tailor my teaching style to match their needs—whether they’re visual learners, need hands-on examples, or just someone to patiently walk them through each step. I always strive to build confidence while making learning engaging and stress-free. Teaching Methods & Techniques: I use a mix of structured practice, real-life examples, and interactive activities to keep students engaged. I break down complex topics into manageable pieces and reinforce learning with repetition, positive reinforcement, and creative exercises. I also like to check in frequently to make sure students truly understand rather than just memorize. Typical Lesson Plan: Each lesson starts with a quick review of previous material, followed by a fun warm-up (like a short spelling game or writing prompt). Then we dive into the main skill for the day, whether it’s grammar, reading comprehension, or ACT strategies. I always end with a recap and a simple takeaway the student can practice during the week. What Sets Me Apart: I’m a soon to be graduate of the University of Miami with real experience working with children across age groups. I’m extremely patient, reliable, and passionate about education. I create a safe space where students aren’t afraid to make mistakes, ask questions, and grow at their own pace. Who My Lessons Are For: I tutor students from PreK to 8th grade in all core subjects, with a focus on English skills like writing, spelling, and reading.
