About Lisa
As an educator, I believe that effective teaching begins with a commitment to student-centered learning. My goal is to create an inclusive, supportive, and intellectually stimulating environment where all students feel empowered to engage deeply with the material, challenge ideas, and develop their own voice.
I view learning as an active, collaborative process. I strive to design lessons that encourage critical thinking, creativity, and real-world application. Whether through discussion, hands-on activities, or digital tools, I aim to accommodate diverse learning styles and foster a classroom culture of mutual respect and curiosity.
I see my role not only as a subject matter expert but also as a mentor and guide. I continuously reflect on and adapt my teaching practices based on student feedback, peer input, and ongoing professional development. I am committed to lifelong learning and to modeling that commitment for my students.
Ultimately, I believe education should equip students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive academically and personally—both in and beyond the classroom.

My Approach to Teaching and Tutoring
My approach to tutoring is student-centered, engaging, and personalized to meet each learner’s individual needs. With a Master’s degree in Education focused on grades K–5 and an ESL endorsement, I understand that every student learns differently. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, building confidence, and developing a love of learning.
Teaching Methods and Techniques
I use a variety of teaching strategies, including hands-on activities, visual aids, modeling, guided practice, and real-world examples to make learning meaningful and accessible. I break down challenging concepts into manageable steps and provide opportunities for students to practice new skills independently. I also use positive reinforcement, ongoing feedback, and differentiated instruction to help students overcome challenges and recognize their progress. With my ESL endorsement, I can adapt instruction to support English language learners as they develop vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and speaking skills.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each lesson begins with a brief review of previous learning and a discussion of the student’s goals. Next, I introduce the new concept using clear explanations, examples, and engaging activities. We work through practice problems or tasks together before the student tries the skill independently. Throughout the lesson, I check for understanding and adjust my approach as needed. We finish by reviewing what was learned, celebrating progress, and identifying any areas that may need additional practice.
What Sets Me Apart
My background in elementary education and ESL allows me to support students with a wide range of learning needs and abilities. I am patient, encouraging, and committed to helping students develop both academic skills and confidence. I believe learning should be a positive experience, and I work to make difficult concepts easier to understand by connecting them to students’ interests, strengths, and everyday experiences. My goal is not only to help students improve their performance but also to develop the skills and independence they need to become successful lifelong learners.
Who My Lessons Are For
I work with elementary students in grades K–5 across all core subject areas, including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. I can help students strengthen foundational skills, complete homework, prepare for assessments, reinforce classroom learning, and work toward individual academic goals. I also welcome English language learners who need additional support with English language development, vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing, and communication. Lessons are tailored to each student’s grade level, learning style, current abilities, and specific needs.
